OIT Increases Flexibility With Additional File Transfer Options
STATE COLLEGE, PA: Optical Image Technology Inc. (OIT) announces a new enhancement to its Total Solution for Document Management that gives users the option of emailing files as urls (uniform resource locators, or web addresses).
In some instances, transferring a file as a url via email, instead of an attachment, is more advantageous for both the user and recipient. Large file attachments can use up space and bog down email servers, especially when the file is sent to multiple recipients.
With this new option, from within the OIT client, users can now highlight a file in the cascade, then select "print," "fax," "email as attachment" and "email as url." If the user selects "email as url," the recipient receives a web address where the file can be accessed. The recipient then simply clicks the highlighted url address and the file is opened within his or her browser. From there, the file can be manipulated and annotated by the new user.
"Functionality and flexibility," explains OIT President Scott Buchart. "When you expand options for the user, you don't just add convenience and flexibility, you also improve efficiency for the entire organization. Optical Image Technology believes in working hard. We also believe in working smart."
The award-winning Total Solution for Document Management includes: OptiFICHE (Computer Output to Laser Disk-Enterprise Report Management-COLD-ERM), OptiIMAGE (Document Imaging), OptiFLOW (Workflow), IntraVIEWER (Enterprise Document Portal), ObjectSERVE (HSM), ObjectPRINT (Print/Fax Server), and InfoVIEW (Enhanced Index Extraction).
