State College Area School District Purchases DocFinity® Software

School District To Implement Software 1st quarter 2005

STATE COLLEGE, Pa – February 18, 2005 – Optical Image Technology, Inc. (OIT) announced today that the State College Area School District (SCASD) will be implementing the DocFinity Suite of Software, to be utilized for human resources and accounting. The purchase included the DocFinity Core product, as well as the COLD-ERM module.

SCASD, which has an enrollment of approximately 7,000 students and employs over 1,500 staff and faculty, will begin the implementation in human resources and accounting. The software will be used to image, store and index payroll records and other information. SCASD plans to use their staff to begin the imaging process, imaging present and recent records first, and then imaging older records at a later point in time. The school district’s documents will be available for staff online and can be accessed from virtually anywhere.

“The paper documents we have right now are putting a strain not only on our human resources but our physical resources as well,” said Dennis Younkin, Business Administrator at SCASD. “Having access to the data electronically will no doubt save us costs over time, as compared to what we do now, which is using microfiche and hard copy.”

“Records management has become a major challenge for K-12 organizations just as it has for the many industries we serve,” said Scott Buchart, President of OIT. “We look forward to helping SCASD and many other school districts to bring their records under control.”

Younkin said the district will be using the software first in administrative areas, but hopes to utilize it in many more ways, even for potentially keeping student portfolios. “I’m sure there are even more possibilities than we’ve even conceived or discussed,” Younkin added.
