The Future of DocFinity® Web Services API
State College, Penn.- April 22, 2003- Optical Image Technology, Inc. announces developmental changes in the DocFinity Suite of Products to utilize Web Services technology.
Modifications to the code of the DocFinity IntraVIEWER® Web Client, which allow users remote access via the Internet, are partially based on the new DocFinity API (Application Programming Interface) with the April 2003 release. The remaining aspects of IntraVIEWER will be coded to call the DocFinity API in the Fall 2003 release of the software.
The DocFinity API uses Web Services to make DocFinity functionality available to OIT’s customers across all platforms and development tools. Web Services can ‘speak’ to, and be called, by virtually every known development language. This allows for easy integration and use of DocFinity functionality by applications written by OIT’s customers and business partners. This move to using Web Services as the basis of the DocFinity architecture means that, as OIT develops its DocFinity Suite of Products, the DocFinity API will automatically be kept up to date as new functionality is added.
The DocFinity API allows customers to tie OIT into their application infrastructure in a both unobtrusive and easy to maintain manner. The flexibility of DocFinity’s Web Service architecture makes it possible for customers to call the DocFinity API from their own web sites, portals and server processes. Customers can link to, and pass, any data back and forth from the DocFinity API using virtually any development language. This allows users to import, retrieve and view documents from DocFinity, start DocFinity workflows and get DocFinity reports all from their own company web site, portals or applications.
Since 1986, OIT has been developing award-winning integrated document management solutions, including COLD-ERM/EBPP, Document Imaging, Workflow/Process Management, Browser Access/E-Business Enablement, HSM, Print/Fax Server, and Enhanced Index Extraction. OIT’s DocFinity Suite of Document Management Solutions has gained prominent industry recognition by organizations such as AIIM International, Transform Magazine, Doculabs, and Kinetic Information.
