Addenbrooke’s Hospital NHS Trust and OITUK Receive Two IM Awards

STATE COLLEGE, Pa., US, NUNEATON, Warwickshire, UK – December 21, 2005 – OITUK Ltd., in partnership with Addenbrooke’s Hospital NHS Trust received two prestigious awards at the Information Management 2005 Awards Ceremony that took place December 1st in London. OITUK worked closely with Addenbrooke’s to develop their award-winning solution for electronic medical records (eMR). OITUK is a strategic partner of State College-based Optical Image Technology, Inc., owner and developer of DocFinity software, which provided the underlying engine for the Addenbrooke's solution. OITUK is a full-service document management solutions provider in the UK marketplace. The OITUK-Addenbrooke’s collaboration was awarded the Content Management Project Award as well as a commendation for the Premier Project Award.
This was the tenth year for the IM Awards, which were designed to recognize organizations that have implemented new technology to improve their business and gain a substantial return on investment. The Content Management Project Award is given for the most innovative and successful project using web content or document management. The award was sponsored by AIIM Europe. The Premier Project Award is given for the overall best information management project, and is supported by the British Computer Society and the British Standards Institution. Addenbrooke’s and OITUK were honored that their innovative project was recognized for two awards.
The eMR solution that Addenbrooke’s and OITUK developed is helping the hospital to realize their goal of creating and maintaining medical records electronically. Their system offers many benefits, including better data quality, significant savings in secretarial time and specialist stationery, and a Trust-wide standard for all documentation. Since the implementation of the eMR system, there is considerable evidence of its success: nearly 2,500 registered users now access more than 1,000 templates specific to their departments via the Trust intranet. Nearly one million documents are now available electronically for review and reference.
Addenbrooke’s and OITUK were both present at the ceremony to receive the award. “We are all very proud of the IM2005 awards which recognize both the technologies employed and their implementation; I am particularly proud of the close partnership developed with Addenbrooke’s to deliver eMR – all successful IT projects are based on such partnerships.” said Dr. Vijay Magon, Technical Director at OITUK.
