Optical Image Technology, Inc. Offers New Release of the DocFinity® IntraVIEWER®

Latest Version Introduces a New Viewer for Web Access

STATE COLLEGE, Pa – January 25, 2005 – Optical Image Technology, Inc. (OIT) announced that it has released its newest version of the DocFinity IntraVIEWER which is available now and is included in the DocFinity Core. The upgrade introduces a newly redesigned Viewer, written in Java, which is a web application that is capable of viewing almost any file. The Viewer streams files directly from the web server without storing any information onto the user’s computer, aiding in HIPAA compliance.

The new Viewer has a wide array of functionality, including printing capabilities. The viewer offers full-text searching options for text files. In addition, there are features that allow the user to add footnotes, annotate text, highlight and block text. All annotations and features are dependent on user rights, so any user not given access to the annotations cannot view them. Also, users can have portions of the original text blocked from their view based on their user rights.

In order to protect data, the Viewer was designed to store annotations as an overlay to the file. The file can be viewed with the annotations, but the overlays are stored separately, in order to keep from modifying the original file. OIT plans to add even more functionality to the Viewer in the near future.

“The DocFinity Viewer is an ambitious piece of technology. It combines Java and the best image viewing tools available to provide customers the ability to access their documents from anywhere around the world,” said Jerry Cannie, OIT’s Director of Development.

Because it is written with Java, the Viewer can be run on any operating system through a web browser. Its multi-platform capabilities make it extremely versatile. Users are now able to view almost any file in their repository from any computer with Internet access, and can print and annotate those documents remotely, giving an organization more flexibility and better access to company information.
