Optical Image Technology, Inc. Releases Version 9 of the DocFinity® Software Suite

The added modules and functionality make Version 9 a major release

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – July 11, 2005 – Optical Image Technology, Inc. (OIT) released a new version of the DocFinity Software Suite today, Version 9. The upgrade incorporates many new and major pieces, making the software suite much more flexible, capable, and user-friendly. The Version 9 release offers increased security, efficiency, and flexibility.

“Version 9 is the next step in DocFinity’s 19-year evolution,” said Scott Buchart, president and CEO of OIT. “This version provides tremendous new opportunity for customers to take advantage of new server-based models, new user interfaces, and new API integration capabilities that leverage server-side processes. Integration into the customer’s business process has never been better and customers will welcome the ease of use, new single-point configuration tools, and easier installation tools provided with this release. This new version is stronger than ever, while positioning the technology for upcoming releases.”

The new release of DocFinity contains a Web Services API that enables administrators to grant access to information stored in the DocFinity software through a Web portal or custom application, so that users won’t need to juggle multiple applications to retrieve information. It also contains a new cross-platform Viewer as part of the Web-access module. It is capable of viewing many image formats including full TIFF support, COLD line data, and many other file formats over the Web, and has the ability to make annotations to those files.

The Version 9 release also includes an improved Web-based Workflow piece, written in Flash™ technology from Macromedia®, which offers a better end-user experience for processing workflow jobs. The new workflow piece also boasts several new features, including automated workflow task executions, improved supervisory tools, server warnings management, and many others.

“From top to bottom, the Version 9 release has more new functionality than any release preceding it,” said Adam McGovern, director of DocFinity enterprise product development. “This major release exhibits the continued advancement and strengthening of both the DocFinity development team and the DocFinity software suite.”

In addition, Version 9 is capable of:

  • Editing files and documents through the Web.
  • Configuring settings for multiple applications from one location and interface.
  • Accessing files and database information in a uniform way.
  • Providing more server-side processes for growth and future releases.
